How It Works

We pride ourselves on giving you the best possible service available by offering your employees a cycle to work scheme and value added benefits that simply can’t be beaten by other schemes. The Halfords Cycle2Work scheme is easy to join!

The Halfords Cycle2Work scheme is run in strict accordance with the Irish Revenue Commission and all legal aspects are covered in approved documentation which will be provided free of charge.

Here’s what you need to know!

  • Under the scheme, an employer may provide an employee with a bike and or safety equipment without the employee being liable for benefit-in-kind taxation.
  • The scheme is usually implemented via a salary sacrifice arrangement through the employee’s payroll (this is similar to the Travel Pass Scheme). The employee will agree to give up part of their salary over a maximum period of 12 months in order to cover the cost of the benefit. There will be savings on tax, PRSI and levies.
  • Participation in the scheme is voluntary for employees. The tax break for the bike and safety accessories will only apply where the employees’ primary use of the bike is mainly for commuting to work.
  • An employee may purchase a bike and/or safety accessories up to the value of €1,000 tax-free. Where the cost exceeds this amount it will not form part of the tax break.

Halfords Cycle2Work core services are free of charge and will provide you with a scheme that is simple to administer and free to implement.

1) Register your details here and an Account Manager will call you to set up your scheme, alternatively you can call +353 (0) 86 0206622

2) Once you have signed and returned your Supplier Agreement to Halfords Cycle2Work, we will provide you with application forms for your employees to complete.

3) Promote, promote, promote! – Tell your employees how to participate. Halfords will provide you with relevant marketing materials to communicate this fantastic benefit to your employees.

4) Employees can visit one of our 22 stores nationwide to select the bike and accessories they want. They can then fill out the application form, which will be approved by you. Once applications are approved, notify Halfords who will post the letter of collection (voucher) within 4 working days.* (T’s & C’s) apply

5) The employee can then go into any Halfords store and collect their bike package.
