No, you are only able to reserve your bike once you have your Letter of Collection. You can do this by ordering online at www.tredz.co.uk or www.halfords.com. If you have applied but you have not been approved yet, please visit or call your local Halfords store. They will be able to discuss reserving a bike for you while you wait to receive your Letter of Collection.
If the bike you would like has gone up in price you will need to cancel your application (where possible) and reapply for your new value. You are unable to add your own funds towards the cost of your bike. If the bike has reduced in price, you are able to redeem the balance on cycle accessories of your choice!
You are able to sign up for stock alerts for many of the models on www.halfords.com. To view these models, please click here. We also have bike deliveries daily which are immediately loaded on to the website, so please keep checking on www.halfords.com.
Cycle2Work is a great employee benefit which offers the most cost-effective way to get new cycling equipment. The scheme is run via a salary sacrifice meaning you won’t pay tax or national insurance – this saves you between 32% and 42% on your new bike and accessories. This reduced cost is simply deducted out of your payslip over 12 or 18 months, so no need to worry about large one-off costs!
In this case, you will need to contact the benefit provider and not Cycle2Work directly. Unfortunately, we will not be able to give you an update on your application or cancel your agreement for you. If you are not sure if your employer uses a benefit provider, or you are not sure who the benefit provider is, please contact your HR Department.
Unfortunately, we cannot help with these issues. To get your issue resolved as quickly as possible please contact the retailer below:
In short, no! The government guidelines state that you should use your bike and accessories for commuting for at least 50% of its usage however you do not have to log your bikes mileage and we thoroughly encourage you to use your bike in your spare time!
No, the items that you select must be for yourself.
Through Cycle2Work, you will save between 32% and 42% through tax and national insurance and the cost will simply be deducted from your payslip. You’ll also get loads of free extras, discounts and benefits on Cycle2Work which you would not get on Interest Free Finance! For example, a bike costing £1000 could cost as little as £56.60 a month over 12 months on Cycle2Work - compared to £83.33 through Interest Free Finance.
To make a Cycle2Work application, all you need is your employer code*. You may have seen this promoted by email or on posters or leaflets around your workplace! Please contact your HR Department if you do not know your employer code.
You’ll then receive an email with a link to verify your email address and complete your application. Your application will be sent off to your employer, and once approved, you’ll receive your Letter of Collection by email. Now you are ready to pick up your new bike and accessories!
Every company has a different application window, you may have seen this advertised around your workplace or via email. Please contact your HR Department if you do not know when your Cycle2Work scheme opens and closes.
This can be different for every company, you may have seen this advertised around your workplace or via email. Please contact your HR Department if you do not know what your scheme’s maximum limit is.
We recommend finding your perfect bike and accessories before applying so you know exactly what amount to apply for. This way you won’t apply for too much or too little – this is really important to get right because you cannot amend your application once you have been approved.
Of course! You may want to get a whole new upgrade, or a second bicycle for a different season or terrain. Just want accessories? Using the Cycle2Work scheme for accessories only is a very popular option for employees who already own a bicycle and just want to upgrade the rest of their equipment!
Yes! If you would like to get two bikes you certainly can – as long as they are both suitable and safe for you to ride, and your total doesn’t exceed your scheme’s maximum limit.
Technically once you have submitted your application, you are unable to amend it. What you can do in some cases is cancel your application and reapply for your new amount – however this is not always possible so we advise that you ask your employer for their cancellation terms and conditions!
As long as you don’t exceed the maximum limit you can technically apply more than once – providing the deductions from your payslip don't take you below the National Minimum/Living Wage. However, depending on your employer it is not always possible to make a second application so you must always check with your HR Department first.
This could happen if your scheme is not yet opened, has already closed, or your employer code is incorrect. Please contact your HR Department who can give you all the information on when and how to apply.

Your hire agreement is essentially the ‘terms and conditions’ of Cycle2Work, which you will sign when you apply. Your hire period is the period that this agreement is valid for - this is also the period in which you will pay your salary sacrifice
This is very unlikely, however every company and employee is different so please speak to your employer for more advice.
This one’s down to you! Looking after the bike is your responsibility, however to make this a whole lot easier we offer all of our members 8 Weeks FREE Insurance – with a 20% discount if you take out a longer policy. This insurance is NOT applied automatically and you must activate it here. This ensure nothing will stop you cycling if your bike is damaged or stolen!
Once your hire period has come to an end, we’ll get in touch to discuss your options. This will include the opportunity to extend the hire of the cycle at no additional cost until HMRC deem the value to be negligible. This is typically 4 or 5 years, and once this agreement has finished you will become the rightful owner!
We completely understand that life can be unpredictable. If you were to leave your company or be made redundant in your hire period, the remaining gross balance would simply be deducted from your last payslip.
Yes, you have 14 days to cancel your Cycle2Work application from the date that you sign your hire agreement. To do this, please use the cancellation link that you should have recieved via email. Alternatively, contact us with your reasons for cancellation.
